Alas, I live in an area that doesn’t feature food delivery service… and an order of Pad Thai would be perfect right about now. 

I stumbled upon an interesting miniature food blog today. I am inspired by the work of Mary Ellen , especially her miniature Thai food and was pleasantly surprised that it could be delivered!

A dear friend mentioned to me yesterday that I hadn’t posted on this blog and quite some time- perhaps I was feeling better? Absolutely!

I ran across a blog today that addresses movies and food, “It came from the Kitchen”…two subjects dear to my heart. So far there are only a few posts, but I look forward to seeing more.

This is my first post of my new blog It Came from the Kitchen, which is based on the book I co-wrote with my friend Gord Reid. It is a cookbook we put together based on Sci-fi, horror and fantasy film-makers, writers and actors. Most of the recipes were compiled from celebrities from those fields and the rest were either written by me or chefs that I have known. “

I can almost be certain that Alton Brown, the host of Food TV’s “Good Eats” and “Iron Chef” has  this website bookmarked= Khymos.org . “What is in the name khymos?
The name of this site, khymos, is Greek meaning “juice”. It is however related to al-kimiya, the Arabic word from which our word chemistry derives from. Other related words include Khemia, the old name of Egypt (meaning land of black earth) and the Greek khein and khymatos meaning “to pour” and “that which is poured out” respectively. So in a sense, the word khymos provides a link between chemistry and food! I therefore thought it would be a suitable name for a site dealing with molecular gastronomy and related”Here is a site where you can research just how far you can stretch the parameters of a recipe (for example: is including salt really necessary to make this recipe work), debunk some kitchen myths and learn more about lemongrass...not everyone’s cup of tea but…

I realize “Bliss” is in the moment and totally relative, however…

• Being able to take a shower
• Being able to actually lie down in bed and sleep with comfort
• Being able to pick something off the floor and not feel pain
• Being able to feel encompassing gratitude for support and kind words…

And to make Bliss more than a notion… my Mother treated me to an afternoon at the Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa= hour long pedicure with hot wax and massage, new haircut, lunch and laughter.

• My neighbor gifted me with a ninety minute gentle version of Thai massage with neck JOY
• My dear friend Betty gifted me with a reflexology foot treatment and energy boost
• Another neighbor dropped off homemade Beet soup with pumpernickel bread

Yikers!!! Bliss for the day….(to do list tomorrow)

It is with great relief that I  have been srung from the brace!!! The last few days were intense in that I was worried my “sentence”  might be expanded- which was not the case. I feel liberated and extremely vulnerable, like a turtle without a shell or a soft shell crab. I  have been able to schedule physical therapy and am on my way to returning to supra-normal…gently, slowly and with grace (as I examine my expanded to-do list for the upcoming months).I remain grateful for all the visits, errand running, cards, emails and calls of support and cheer- it certainly made the past few months easier knowing I had so many people holding loving thoughts, sending remote healing and intercessionary prayers-  THANK YOU

My fingers and toes are crossed…and I realize I may be being too optimistic, hopeful, delusional….? Perhaps I only have 45 minutes until the hot pajamas come out of the dryer and forty-one hours until I get this brace off? I am chafing, claustrophobic and pissy…and uncertain as to just how much longer the brace stays on?

Perhaps you’ve seen those ads for those FULL BODY scans? By the time I’m done here, I won’t be needing one of those for some time…in the next couple of weeks I will be getting more x-rays, ultra-sounds to my thyroid and abodomen, a colonoscopy and more blood test as my CT’s and MRI’s are compared.More importantly, fingers crossed, I am on the one week countdown to being sprung from my current orthopeadic brace !!!
